In line with the Borma Wachs philosophy, which combines technological research with a commitment to nature, our CAM-compliant formulations guarantee technical performance, high coverage, ultra-low emissions, and strict control over hazardous substances. A responsible choice for public tenders, green building, and anyone seeking healthy, safe indoor spaces.
Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) are the environmental and technical specifications defined by the Italian Ministry of the Environment to guide public authorities toward green purchasing and foster sustainability in public procurement.
CAM compliance is mandatory for architectural design services, building interventions, and public works contracts. It applies to construction products and finishing materials—including varnishes, wood protection treatments, and interior/exterior paints—aiming to reduce environmental impact throughout the entire product and building lifecycle, from raw material selection to final disposal.
For interior and exterior paints, coatings, and finishes, Minimum Environmental Criteria set rigorous standards to protect both health and the ecosystem:
Basse emissiLow Indoor Emissions (VOCs and Formaldehyde)
Products for interior use must preserve high Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) by minimizing the release of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) and formaldehyde. This ensures safe, healthy living spaces. Compliance is verified according to international standards such as UNI EN 16516 and UNI EN ISO 16000-9.
CAM-compliant paints and finishes for both interior and exterior applications must not carry Category 1 or 2 environmental hazard classifications. These restrictions exclude any products bearing hazard statements H400, H410, or H411 in Section 2.1 of their Safety Data Sheet (SDS) or on their packaging label.
Choosing CAM-compliant formulations means fulfilling regulatory requirements while creating healthier, more sustainable, and long-lasting spaces.
