WATER AND OIL TOGETHER: THE BEST OF TWO WORLDS

The innovative technology of Naturaqua Hybrid Oil wood products allows you to combine the benefits of oil products and the advantages of water products:
• enhances the aesthetic characteristics of wood like no other product can
• improves the environmental impact
• improves outdoor performance
• protects and conserves the wood
• facilitates maintenance

HOW NATURAQUA HYBRID OIL IS MADE - THE ADVANTAGES FOR WOOD TREATMENT

Naturaqua Hybrid Oil products are composed of a water base in which droplets (or particles) based on oily polymers are dispersed. This dispersion has specific properties that lead to outstanding results in woodworking. Let's see them.

Deep penetration and high adhesion: the hybrid system
The size of the oily particles dispersed in water is less than one micron, thus allowing a high penetration capacity into the wood and excellent surface wettability.

The oily polymers dispersed in water are very reactive and favor the creation of chemical bonds with the resinous component of the wood, the lignin, producing a strong adhesion to the support.
Naturaqua Hybrid Oil wood products do not form a "plastic film", which flakes and detaches from the wood as it ages, but chemically binds becoming one with the lignin itself.

The beauty of the natural wood grain: the open pore system
Naturaqua Hybrid Oil aims to protect the entire wood structure. It consolidates the wood in depth thanks to its small size of 0.07 microns, which allows it to enter the fibers and at the same time to recreate a protective resin resistant to water and abrasion.
Thanks to its small size Naturaqua Hybrid Oil particles do not hide the beauty of the wood and do not change its material characteristics to the touch. The result is a wood protected in its internal structure that continues to transpire, remains biodegradable and retains its unique aesthetic over time.

Renewable protection, all the time: a new paradigm

We are talking about a new paradigm because with Naturaqua Hybrid Oil products we have chosen to change the traditional approach to the age-old problem of wood degradation.

Traditional approach: transparent film coatings, even if with UV filters, are not able to give lasting protection to the wood substrate, which degrades over time and creates inevitable detachments of the finish, opening vulnerability points that make wood degradation even more likely.
Result: clarity is compromised and detachments or cracks are created which break the protective shield of the wood. The finish must be removed, revealing a deeply degraded wood, difficult to restore even after sanding.

New approach: a product of the Naturaqua Hybrid Oil line, a finish that biodegrades slowly and imperceptibly, treats wood for what it is, that is, a living and changing material that must be maintained cyclically over time. We therefore have a protective compound that "sacrifices" itself to protect the underlying wood.
Result: the wood is deeply protected and resistant, the substrate remains intact and is also aesthetically preserved. The surface of the wood remains easy to regenerate with a quick wash and with the direct application of the finish, without sanding. This biomimetic renewable treatment concept shields the wood all the time, keeping wood always beautiful and easier to keep.

HOW NATURAQUA HYBRID OIL IS MADE - THE BENEFITS FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Bio-based technology
All products of fossil origin have a strong negative impact on the environment. This is why Borma Wachs has chosen to increasingly use materials derived from vegetable oils, with all the resulting environmental benefits.

Environmental product performance: life cycle analysis
We are not only committed to providing a product that is good for wood, and for workers and those who use it, but we analyze its entire life cycle in order to reduce the environmental impact and allow future generations.

As we have just seen, in fact, the wood treated with Naturaqua Hybrid Oil is obtained from renewable raw materials (vegetable oil) and at the end of its life it is biodegradable, reducing to zero the problematic special waste to be disposed of and guaranteeing maintenance over time that always remains respectful of the environment.

In this regard, we conducted an LCA study (or life cycle analysis in reference) and laboratory tests in compliance with the requirements for environmental and product performance declarations.

CERTIFICATIONS AND CONFORMITY
Conformity EN 71.3 Toy safety - Part 3: Migration of certain items.
Eurofins danish laboratories have recognized the conformity of Borma Wachs oils to EN 71-III norm, relating to the migration of harmful heavy metals, guaranteeing the safety of the treatments in such a way that they can also be safe for use on childrens' toys.
ICON_CERT_IBR
Borma Wachs products are tested and approved by IBR, Intitut für Baubiologie Rosenheim. The performed analysis certify that our products are complying in terms of VOC content, biocides, heavy metals and radioactivity, guaranteeing full eco-compatibility with Green Building principles.
ICON_CERT_DIN
This product's safety is guaranteed more than just by EN 71-III certificate. Its safety for children is supported by DIN 53160/1-2 and DIN 68861/1 (Resistance to saliva and sweat; Resistance to cold liquids ) certificates as well. The product does not release harmful substances even when in contact with common alimentary liquids or mucuous membrane.
CERT_BFLS1
The product acts as fire retardant
CERT_DGALN_A
CERTIFICATIONS AND COMPLIANCE
Labeling of construction products
This label covers the French legislation relating to emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and the impact they have on indoor air quality after the product is brought into the room.
Labeling refers to the pollutants emitted once the products are spread and dried.

The IBR Green Building Institute had tested some of our products and determined that they correspond to the highest standards of the aforementioned French VOC legislation.
EC1
CERTIFICATIONS AND COMPLIANCE
EMICODE EC1 - Low-emission building materials
Certified installation materials, adhesives and construction products
The EMICODE mark guarantees that the material has been tested and certified according to its emission level. Compared to 1997, low-emission building materials now have a TVOC value (total quantity of volatile organic compounds) from one hundred to one thousand times lower. The EMICODE mark is not issued if a building material is suspected of altering genetic makeup, causing cancer or impairing reproductive capacity.
APEO
CERTIFICATIONS AND COMPLIANCE
APEO (alkylphenol ethoxylates)
APEOs (alkylphenol ethoxylates) are highly persistent chemicals, which are deposited in the tissues, penetrating, through them, into the food chain.
Recent studies demonstrate its toxicity and danger, as potential endocrine disruptors.
